Poor tablet quality

I’ve had 2 bottles of Carlyle 5mg melatonin. In the first bottle, the tablets were normal and intact. The second bottle had broken and crumbling tablets. They were stored in the same place, treated the same way and still have 2 years left on the expiry date. I was really happy with the first bottle, but I’m not sure I’d order them again after seeing this current batch.

Proper Dosage & GMP

Used to take higher doses .- this is more in line with what your body produces. I take one about an hour before I sleep and it does make me sleepy. It’s not going to knock you out but it helps. At first I thought “no effect”. Had to stop the high dose for a week then migrated to these. The key to sleep is do NOT go to bed until you are tired and wake up at the same time every day. No naps. That’s just my humble opinion from a long time insomniac who is on the right path now.

It seems to work

I don't like to 'take' things to sleep. But I needed some help. I started some years ago with 10mg of melatonin. I've gone from 10 to 5 to 3 to 1 and now I am down to two 330mcg each night. It does seem to work

Not verifiable

In theory, this is a good (physiologic) dose. The company (Carlyle) insists that each batch is tested for potency but refuses to provide those tests to consumers. There is no way to know whether you are getting the amount listed on the bottle, more, less, or none at all. The listed address for the company is an office building in NY, not a manufacturing company, and I was unable to find any company registration info online. I would purchase from a more reputable supplier.

Great for the againg brain!

Well, I'm not really that old, but as you age, your melatonin, which is naturally occurring in the human brain, does begin to decline in production from the Pineal Gland.
However, I truly believe that the 300 Micrograms is FAR superior to any larger dose!!!
People don't need to replace ALL of their melatonin-just a small portion. (Recommendations are always way too much).
I am not taking it for sleep as much as for new scientific studies (from Pub Med and others) have proven through testing that it helps tremendously in decreasing Intraocular Pressure. People should not discontinue their medical doctor-ordered prescriptions without first consulting their own physician.
Melatonin is a supplement-NOT a replacement. And, for the record-I sleep more soundly with the minimal dose!
