Saved my life!

I’ve been “sick” for almost 1.5 years. After a heavy course of antibiotics, my GI track was completely destroyed. Anytime I ate or drank anything I was bloated, gassy, diarrhea, chronic constipation, fatigue, pressure in my stomach, weight gain, and joint pain.

I went from doctor to doctor, GI to GI who did several blood tests, a colonoscopy, endoscopy, hydascan for the gallbladder and even a naturopath. All the tests came back normal and one GI doctor wrote it off as IBS and told me to take a fiber supplement daily.

I tried everything the doctors recommended with no improvement. I struggled daily and my quality of life declined. I was down to eating one meal a day to avoid going through the “digestion process”. I was miserable but refused to believe that this was normal and that this would be my life from now on.

I never gave up researching, reading and trying different supplements to get healthy again. Nothing worked until I tried Florastor.

About a week ago, I came home from work absolutely defeated and at the end of my rope. I had only eaten 2 eggs the whole day and I felt completely swollen and looked 6 months pregnant. The last doctor I went to had briefly mentioned probiotics and I had a bottle of Florastor sitting in my medicine cabinet that I never tried. I took 2 pills in the evening and shortly after felt a slight burn in my stomach. I went to sleep that night and the next morning woke up with no bloat. Later in the morning, I had the best bowel movement I’ve had in 1.5 yrs (sorry tmi) and since then I have been feeling great! I take 2 pills in the morning on an empty stomach & 2 pills before dinner in the evening.

I feel like the old me! No more bloat, no more GI issues, digestion is exactly how it was before I got sick and I’ve even lost a few pounds! I don’t feel swollen or defeated anymore. I feel like me again! Thank you Florastor, you saved my life!!!

Nothing short of INCREDIBLE effects! A life saver.

I am a physically active 55 yr. old male, weigh 155 lbs., am 5'11" tall, who eats well, and for the last 10 years have been battling and trying to figure out why my digestive tract has declared war on my immune system. I have experienced all manner of bloating (to the point where I needed to buy new pants) and more taxing (painful hemorrhoids) afflictions, as well as overall fatigue and general malaise. It comes in waves, lasts days/weeks, and was taking the life out of my usually upbeat disposition.

I experimented with all manner of dietary adjustments, FODMAP, Paleo, non-dairy, non-sugar, non-yadd yadda to the point where I finally figured out it wasn't the food, it was my inadequate GI biome. I wasted countless hours reading pseudo-scientific blather on the internet by hack content writers expounding on food culprits to avoid (and almost everything should be avoided if you listen to these bozos).

About three weeks ago, I stumbled across Florastor, and since I have been taking it, without adjusting anything else in my diet or exercise regime or lifestyle, the results have been nothing short of incredible! bear in mind, I avoid crappy fried food, eat very little dairy (low fat mozzerella cheese is OK) and make sure to get enough fiber content in my diet.

This might be too much information, but I'd been experiencing very loose stools for an extended time, with no correlation to food I was eating...anything I ate seemed to cause discomfort, and in the end was appearing improperly digested. I looked up intestinal cancer, imagined every horrific possibility causing this diarrhea-like effect. I looked up things like Crohn's and IBS, and it seemed my intestinal absorption was impaired. Not digesting properly was likely related to feelings of fatigue, since my body wasn't adequately processing all the nutrients from any food I ate.

After taking the Florastor (2 pills a day - one every 12 hours), I can honestly say I haven't felt this good in 10 years. It is as if I got my body back from the devil!

So whatever the Saccharomyces Boulardii in Florastor is doing down in my gut, it is well worth the expense of around $2.00/day! Florastror definitely is working with my biology. I have tried Greek yogurt...bloating. I tried Culturelle...nothing, maybe even more bloating. Maybe it will work for those of you who have reached the point, like I did, where you realize that it ain't the food....it's the gut bacteria, dammit!

Always take a probiotic when you are prescribed an antibiotic, always take a probiotic!

I have used this probiotic in the past. The price and quantities are better from Amazon.

Whenever you are prescribed an antibiotic, it is important to also take a probiotic in order to keep your gut “in balance”. Not doing so, can, and probably will result in an imbalance which can cause severe problems, such as c-diff, a bacterial infection. That is what happened to me, several weeks after finishing my prescription for Cipro. I ended up in the emergency room and spent three days on IVs . Don’t ever take antibiotics, unless you are also taking a good probiotic, such as Florastor.

Great product for individuals with IBS! I am near regular again. A bit expensive, though.

This probiotic is absolutely amazing. It is completely different from other probiotics I have tried, but it all depends on your own GI tract. Other probiotics have given me either constipation or diarrhea completely, whereas this one regulates me as long as I take it twice a day. I was taking it only once a day with a ton of improvement, but now that I take it twice a day it's almost as if I'm normal again. It has so many good reviews, is recommended highly by the pharmacist I asked about it, and research done on this product (e.g., PubMed) has shown that it is very useful for even those with inflammatory bowel diseases. I have cyclic vomiting syndrome and IBS and this has actually improved both syndromes' symptoms. It has also improved my GERD almost completely. I've also noticed I had an increase in energy as well when I started taking it twice a day. The only complaint is that it's a bit expensive, but since it helps me so much I'm sort of forced by buy it and take it twice a day.

I just wish that they would offer some kind of discount or something for this product because it gets very expensive and I can't really afford to spend $57 every one and a half months since I have to take it twice a day. It really adds up, but I need it, unfortunately.

10/2022 Update: Overpriced and Underfilled...

10/2022 Update: I've been using another, much less expensive but still effective brand of s. boulardii, but since that was out of stock for 10 days, I bought this again.

DISAPPOINTED. The capsule is barely 3/4 full -- and yet the price is three times as high as the Jarrow product. And no, Florastor is NOT FDA approved as one reviewer claims. No probiotic or prebiotic -- or ANY supplement is FDA approved. Can't wait to get back to the better brand...

Update: Florastor has removed the titanium dioxide, which they used to make the capsule white, so I'm upping my review from 1 star to 4. I'll definitely try it again.

Original review: This probiotic really has possibly helped a little, but the main reason for my review is my discovery that the capsules are colored with titanium dioxide -- a potentially toxic or harmful substance. Why they add this to the product, especially without disclosing it on the BOTTLE, is beyond me. Won't be buying again.

Not Good post-C Diff

Five years ago, I was advised to take this probiotic after recovering from a C Diff infection. When I found myself again recovering from that cruel antibiotic regimen, I repurchased this. I kept getting sick after I was cleared of the infection. I talked to my gastroenterologist and he said that there have been reports of Saccharomyces Boulardii being super dangerous for people after C Diff. He recommended something in the Lactobacillus/acidophilus strain instead. Be careful with your digestive tract!
