I have questions about the strain of S. cerevisiae being used here.
This is a very different type of probiotic. Most probiotics are bacterium. This one is a yeast - s boulardii which is a non-pathogenic yeast with a host of documented benefits. These include supporting the gastrointestinal and immune systems, inhibiting the formation of some harmful biofilms, helping to restore a normal balance of short-chain fatty acids, which help to keep gut inflammation in check and support normal digestive enzyme production, support healthy probiotic bacteria, help the microbiome, help protect the lining of the gut, and help break down and remove toxins. Quite a list of benefits.

Now all that said, the ingredients list a specific strain - (CNCM+1079). So I looked it up. Could only info on use in animals. Hmmmm.... so I continued looking, and found a panel looking at the claims made in an application for strain (CNCM+1079) in regards to effects on various causes of diahhrea, and finding the claims really belong to a different strain, CBS 5926, or to no strain specified in the studies submitted. The application being considered by the panel stated that “the strain S. cerevisiae var. boulardii CNCM I-1079 is genetically equivalent to S. boulardii CBS 5926". However, the panel rejected that claim as there was no evidence to support it and effects can be strain specific, so can't automatically be transferred from one strain to another.

I have not yet found any studies on humans...... so is it being presented as a supplemrnt for humans without there being human studies or clinical trials? Still looking for data.

What I have found are reports of it helping diahhrea of various causes in people. So does this strain have the other beneficial effects attributed to S. cerevisiae? I don't know. It probably would be worth trying the next time I need an antibiotic; and for those who use colloidal silver, the same issues exist with gut flora as with other antibiotics, so this could prove helpful there too.
