A good option for probiotics
I got this probiotic powder more for my wife than me. She has struggled with IBS, constipation, and general gut health for years. We have adopted a healthy lifestyle and have been generally following a Paleo diet for a few years. It has helped a lot of her gut issues, but not all.
We’ve decided to try to get more probiotics to supplement our diet and hopefully clear up any remaining gut issues. The problem is, there aren’t a lot of food choices with natural probiotics - yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, and natto are about it. My wife is a picky eater (I’m not), and won’t touch any of it except for the kombucha. It is hard to get enough probiotics daily when you don’t like fermented food. Even if you do, it’s hard to eat enough of it, and most of the good probiotic foods are rather expensive. Hence the need for a supplement.
This probiotic powder is a good idea. It is lightly flavored, and the raspberry flavor is not the least bit offensive or overpowering. I like the handy scoop for measuring. The flavor seems to mix with just about anything and blends and into smoothies just fine. As I said earlier, we do a Paleo diet, so the vegan part wasn’t important; but I like to make sure things are cruelty free and non-GMO, so the powder checks those boxes.
The only problem I have found with the product so far is that it clumps pretty badly. Much like protein powder or other supplement powders, it does not mix well with just a spoon in a cup of water. I would highly recommend using a blender. We have had the best luck blending it into smoothies, although it will mix with water or almond milk or your liquid of choice in the blender. I’d recommend a smoothie with a scoop of this powder and some flax seed to keep your digestion going smoothly.
We will probably continue to buy and use this probiotic powder. It is reasonably priced, seems to work well, and is a good way to get healthy bacteria in our guts.
