More tart than expected, but good ingredients.

I've used elderberry syrup before, with excellent results. In fact, it's my go to when I'm down with a cough or sore throat. I don't have one now, but I dozed off last night before I put my CPAP machine on, so I woke up this morning with a rough, scratchy throat. I know they say this could cause drowsiness, but it's my understanding that melatonin dissipates when light hits your eyes, so I'm not too worried. Plus, we're on lockdown, there's a storm raging, a tropical storm is about to strike us and I didn't sleep well. If I get in a bit of a nap, I'm good with that.<br /><br />But I digress. The product is a good one. It's a bit more tart and slightly thicker than my usual brand, but I do really appreciate the addition of the other ingredients. They would be quite supportive of someone in the throws of a full blown cold. I think it's worth difference. I found it easy to take and quite soothing. I recommend sambucus regardless. I'm more than happy to recommend this product, and use it, because of the extra push it will give my body.

The Honey Saves It!

As someone with an irritating cough, especially at night, this product seemed like a good option for me. I must admit when I opened the bottle (which took a few attempts with a very stiff childproof cap). the smell was a little offputting but as "medicine" I have always gone for the if it works then it is worth it approach. The dose required is about half of other nighttime cough medicines (such as Nyquil) with an adult dose being 15ml (as pictured). Although tasting bitter at first the after taste of the honey soon comes through and I found it to be very soothing to my throat. The effects seemed to last and although I haven't had good success using Melatonin before as a sleep aid, I definitely fell asleep easier, but not sure if it was that, or the reduction in cough. Either way if you have an irritating nighttime cough and nothing else has worked, it might be worth the investment.

A bit sweet & bitter; tart, berry taste; for adults only; ingredients help fight colds & flu

This elderberry supplement - Sambucus Honeyberry Nighttime Cough Syrup - comes in a 4-fl. oz sturdy plastic bottle, with a small measuring cup.<br />There is an outer seal. Once I removed the cap, there was an inner foil, which I found hard to remove.<br /><br />This cough syrup has a medicine-like aroma as I held the open bottle to my nose.<br />It has a somewhat thick consistency and a taste that is slightly sweet with a stronger tart, berry taste, and a bit bitter.<br /><br />When it is necessary to take this Nature's Way Sambucus Honeyberry cough syrup, it is recommended to take 3 teaspoons up to 1 hour before going to sleep.<br /><br />Notable ingredients include: organic elderberry, organic honey, organic apple cider vinegar, English ivy leaf, melatonin, Vit. C, and zinc.<br /><br />note:<br />Black elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.) help fight colds & flu.<br />English Ivy helps reduce coughing; it makes breathing easier when one is suffering from colds & flu.<br />Organic honey - honey soothes my throat when I have a fever and am constantly coughing.<br /><br />I like the high quality manner in which this herbal supplement is made - has no artificial colors, is gluten-free, and is vegetarian.<br /><br />This product is for adults, and not to be taken by kids.<br />Expiration is on back of the label of the bottle; mine expires Sept 2021.<br /><br />There is the standard warning, "....this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease...."<br /><br />I currently do not feel ill; but, I took the recommended dosage to see how it feels. Although it has melatonin, I did not fall asleep any faster, and did not feel any extra refresh when I woke up.<br /><br />Overall, I like the premium ingredients included in this herbal cough syrup (especially Sambucus nigra L.) that have been shown to boost my immune system and help me recover faster from a cold/cough/flu.

Please list expiration date

I purchased this product in November 2022. Unfortunately I was unaware of the expiration date of January 2023. Had I knew about the expiration date I wouldn't have purchased this product at all.

Sambucus NightTime with Melatonin— Zzzzzzz

This is a very good product. Be aware that the product has a sharp or tart flavor and could sting a little bit (esp. if you have been coughing). But it is effective, knocks me gently out for the evening and I always take it if I’ve lost some sleep the prior night. I just cannot afford to lose sleep 2 nights in a row. Note that I’m only taking a teaspoonful, your mileage may vary. Will definitely keep this formula in the cupboard.
