Doesn't work for my husband unless he takes a separate bioperine with it, then works amazing (best in class)

We are big Pure Encapsulations fans, so it's unusual that I would be leaving them a 3 star review, however, this curcumin product does nothing to alleviate my husband's pain unless he takes it with an herbal tea that contains bioperine.

As background, we switched to this product from a different brand of curcumin which had been helping my husband's pain. I switched because I normally like Pure products so much and I like how they don't have fillers and other additives. However, it didn't work for us. My husband tried it three different times and it did nothing for his pain. Before discarding it, I thought I would get him to take it an herbal tea that contained bioperine that perhaps might increase the bioavailability of the product. Specifically, I gave him Yogi Tea's Peach Detox tea (...it's not actually peach....) which contains black pepper and long berry pepper which are sources of bioperine. Well, that combination got rid of his pain completely. He now declares that the Pure Encapsulations curcumin is best in class -- but only when he drinks the herbal tea in combination with it. It's possible that any source of bioperine would work.

Perfect - curcumin with lipoids provides most absorption

Perfect - I read in India that curcumin with lipoids is how they control seizures. My neurologist would not entertain the idea, nor would my GP - they both said "if there was a natural compound, don't you think the US would have approved it?" I found a naturalpath who recommended that I try this product, 6 per day. Curcumin is the active ingredient in Tumeric, but its very minut. I've read that it takes like 500 tumeric pills to = 1 curcumin. Curcumin needs a fat included with it to be absorbed. I've taken it for going on 2 years and haven't had a seizure. Love not taking pharmacutical drugs that always have side effects. Curcumin also has loads of other health benefits. This is amazing!

... for my mom to help her heal from a painful bladder prolapse surgery that was just not healing at ...

my alternative health adviser suggested this product for my mom to help her heal from a painful bladder prolapse surgery that was just not healing at all since previous year, plus another surgery for a herniated back disc. It sped up the healing and cut the pain so quickly it was almost not believeable. 8 months later it also brought mom's cholesterol down to normal levels, then her high blood pressure also dropped to normal levels, and her thyroid also kicked into gear after not working for 20 years, and her pinky finger which had been bent/unable to straighten it for over a year due to diabetes/low circulation issues suddenly straightened out. How is all this possible from one natural product???? after searching info on its ingredients i discovered that it has curcumin (a component of good old cooking stuff called Tumeric) which is a major anti-inflammatory natural product. and i guess, once inflammation dissapeared then all of moms ailments followed suit. so now my mother inlaw (severe arthritis) and countless friends are also using it. I owe my mom's life to this product because before it she was in bad shape.

The real deal.....

As a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, I am trained in herbology and commonly prescribe Tumeric (Curcumin) to reduce inflammation, manage blood sugar, and support immunity. The Tumeric formulas using Meriva phospholipids improve its clinical effectiveness allowing a lower dose to achieve the desired effect. While the positive effects of Curcumins are well documented, it may also have side effects of skin itching, restlessness and digestive inflammation as it is catagorized as a spicey/heating herb (remember curry powder). I have found the more expensive products, including Pure Encapsulation's and Thorne's, to be better tolerated and while clearly being more effective in reducing pain.

Beware if you have anxiety issues!

I have always been pleased with this brand. The product arrived promptly and in good condition. I have heard that curcumin assists with depression and can aid in detoxifying the liver which is why I purchased it. I started with just 2 capsules in the morning between meals for about 2-3 days and then increased to 3 caps. I initially felt a lift in my energy level and mood but within just a very few days my anxiety had gone through the roof. I decreased the dosage to just 1 cap but it was not enough so I have had to stop taking this supplement all together.
