Good, but be careful when supplementing Dopamine boosters without balancing Serotonin

My understanding is that Dopamine and Serotonin have an inverse relationship to each other. When Dopamine gets too high in the body, it causes Serotonin to become low, and vice versa. When my Dopamine levels are decent and I take this, I have more motivation and feel better. When my Dopamine levels get too high (and my Serotonin gets depleted as a result), my default mindset is constant reminders of embarrassing events from my distant past and rumination galore (yuck!). Dopamine supplements also cause nausea when you're taking more than your body wants. It's best to work with a functional medicine doctor or at the very least do A LOT of research on the topic before jumping in. Good luck!

3 things to keep in mind

1- Always balance with 5-HTP, otherwise you end up in a serotonin depletion situation. More on this in a book called the Mood Cure by Julia Ross
2- Add a small amount of EGCG to avoid breakdown of the amino precursors (tyrosine and 5-HTP) into neurotransmitters outside the brain. Otherwise this can cause long term health issues if you plan on supplementing long term
3- experiment with dosing until you get it right. I tried 500mg and it caused me increased anxiety/fidgetiness. I bought some empty capsules, a small scale and spatula and now I make my own 250mg capsules. Does my office look like a scene from breaking bad? yes. Does my wife think I'm a drug dealer? yes, but hey it's worth it

I recall...!

I was Pleasantly surprised by how much my memory improved after I took this 2-3 times a day for about a month. I suffered a head injury some years ago that significantly affected my memory. I took a shot with this (like we do when nothing has helped a health problem, so we just start throwing spaghetti noodles at the wall hoping one may stick), and I began to remember things...long term memories I never thought I’d have back! I’m not saying everything came back but it was definitely a noticeable change! It feels good to remember the little things, like how my dad would see if the spaghetti was cooked by throwing it at the wall lol! 😂 Thank you for that.

Effective for my ADD

I've been looking for an alternative to ADD drugs for a while but the amino acids I've tried, such as 5-htp, l-theanine, A LA, DHEA, and other blends I've tried helped with my depression and anxiety, but with the added element of daily physical pain, it's hard to keep focused and push myself to be productive. I was almost always mentally checked out. I was trying so hard not to fall apart emotionally that I just didn't deal with anything. L-tyrosine has helped me to turn things around. While not a miracle drug, it does help me to be focused, less anxious, and more productive. Definitely worth a shot if you've been stagnant due to anxiety, depression, physical illness, or ADD, and just want to get on with life. I take 2 in the morning with a b vitamin, followed by a 500 mg l-theanine at lunch time. ( it keeps me upbeat, and sociable) and I feel like a normal human being. Like myself. Solaray's l-theanine chewable works quickly but capsules are a better value.

Do You Need Energy Or Umph To Get Up & Get Going? Here's Your help!

This L-Tyrosine helps me get up & go! It along with L-Tryptophan helped me get off of antidepressants!!! Now I did this with the help my psychiatrist, an MD & only suggest getting off antidepressants with your doctor's help.
But this was my ticket to freedom from meds, sluggishness & an ultra dry mouth. The science that backs up conditionally essential amino acid is real & highly effective. I found this brand to work the best for me & I believe it can help others, so I highly recommend it. I believe you should talk to your doctor as I did & work with him/her as I did & you'll be yourself again & have energy. Now lots of prayer & a good counselor was necessary too, but all were a blessing to help me get up & get going again!

Could put you in the hospital

Talk to your doctor before taking this supplement. If you take too much or too often it can put you in the hospital. I know someone who took too much tyrosine and ended up in the hospital. Dopamine agonists are dangerous. You should really only be taking this supplement under direct order of a doctor for like a severe illness. I’m not saying the brand is bad but def don’t take it as a health supplement.
